Alix helps her clients with their business transactions and intellectual property needs. She spent the first half of her career at one of Portland, Oregon’s largest law firms, before moving in-house with Craft Brew Alliance, the seventh largest craft brewer in the United States. Having acted as both in-house and outside counsel to a range of companies – big and small, public and private – Alix’s focus remains the same: she looks for the business-centric, practical approach that meets her client’s goals.
Alix is experienced in helping her clients with a wide array of commercial contracts, including contracts for the purchase and supply of goods, services, and equipment; marketing and sponsorship contracts; and contracts for creative work. She also assists clients in developing and protecting their intellectual property portfolio, particularly with trademark selection, clearance, prosecution, licensing, and enforcement.
Having counseled alcohol industry members throughout her career, Alix is particularly aware of the unique obstacles that face the industry and enjoys helping her clients navigate those obstacles and assess the day-to-day risks of a highly-regulated industry. In that capacity, Alix routinely helps beer clients with contract brewing and alternating proprietorship arrangements, to secure a qualified warehouse, and find a unique beer name that is not already taken.
